It is perfect for low-use projects and not advised for kitchen countertops, tables, or cabinets. However, it may be used to change a glossy finish to a flat look. Some customers reported that it leaves milky streaks on the gel stain and they found it challenging to get an even finish without drips or marks. It is best to thin it down for use with a paint sprayer. For an excellent finish, it is advisable to use a sanding sealer for oil-based paint or stains and wait for 72 hours before using the topcoat. Thinning paint to 5 or 10% by volume means using 1.6 oz to 3.2 oz of distilled water per 32 oz of paint. Use it by painting it on with a brush, and for best results, use two coats of HPTC in semi-gloss then finish with a coat of FOF. Alternatively, use HPTC in Flat for more durability. Use a 400 grit sandpaper between coats. Scratches are noticeable on surfaces that receive regular use.
