Sennheiser Multipurpose 500198 Editorial Review
The Sennheiser e901 Boundary Layer Condenser Mic is a great option for recording kick drums. While it requires phantom power, it offers a faster and cleaner setup compared to using a kick mic and stand. The mic works best when placed inside the bass drum on a foam pad, and it can also be used as a sub mic thanks to its frequency range of 20 to 20K. It has a full size XLR connector and can fit through vent holes, making it versatile enough to use with cajons. When comparing it to the Shure Beta 91a, the Sennheiser e901 comes out on top due to its full size XLR connector.
